Welcome to the last of old Playa. Corto Maltes is a small hotel with big services. Enjoy the tranquility and relaxation of staying in one of Playa s most comfortably authentic beachfront hotels. Its quaint and rustic atmosphere has every beachfront and water activity at your fingertips, but is only a stroll away from the center of town.

A little oasis in the Mexican tradition right in the heart of Playa del Carmen, Corto Maltes has 14 individual cabanas with thatched palapa roofs.

All rooms have two beds with new orthopedic mattresses, high speed fans, private bath with hot shower, outside sitting area with table and chairs, hammock for two and a sea view.

On-site amenities include our full-service palapa bar with a variety of tropical drinks, fresh fruit smoothies, beer, and our house specialties, many premium choices. Every morning we place complimentary lounge chairs with cushions and umbrellas on the beach for our guests. Relax, relax, relax in the sun or shade and allow us to serve you.

It is very quaint and peaceful here but just a two minute stroll from our little oasis to Fifth Avenue which is the main street through town where you will find many fine restaurants and shopping galore.

Time marches on .............
Hotel Corto Maltes is (was) part of the history of Playa Del Carmen. On the beach, next to the Blue Parrot bar this cabana hotel goes back a long way. I remember in 2003 a night when the fire throwing, dancing Mayan entertainer at the Blue Parrot lost one of his tourches..... burned down the bar and the roofs off a couple of the cabanas... oh well.
Hotel Cortes Maltes and the Mayan Paradise Hotel have both been purchased and will be reopened in time for the 2007/2008 season. Check back with us in late October for new content about these upscale additions to Playa Del Carmen.
