Well off the beaten tourist track, Bayman Bay Club offers a small, friendly club for those interested in the ultimate 'get away' vacation. The island of Guanaja is approximately forty miles off the northern coast of Honduras and is part of the exotic archipelago of the Bay Islands (Islas de la Bahia). The Bay islands consist of three major islands (Utila, Roatan, and Guanaja), several smaller islands and my picturesque cays.
Guanaja is one of the few remaining unspoiled islands in the Caribbean. The island has a rich historic background, including periods of ancient Mayan civilizations and early Spanish exploration. Christopher Columbus landed on the north shore in July, 1502, on his fourth voyage to the New World. During the 16th and 17th Centuries, the islands were the scene of a thriving buccaneer trade.
Today's inhabitants are descendants of the 'Bayman' who sailed with the famous pirate Morgan. The Bay Islands became a British Colony in 1852. In 1861 they were ceded to the Republic of Honduras. Today on Guanaja, there exists a pleasant mixture of Spanish culture and proud British heritage. Many of the friendly islanders can trace their ancestry back to these early settlers.

Divers and non-divers will take delight in the fringing reef and abundant sea life that form the resort's shoreline. Your stay at Bayman Bay includes a variety of activities in addition to diving and snorkeling. You are welcome to use our kayaks for your recreation. The Bayman beach and dockside seating are always available for those who just want to relax with a good book or take a siesta swaying in the tropical breezes.
Shore diving adventures begin in The Bayman Bay Club's own lagoon. Day and night, divers are fascinated by the reef's living corals, colorful tropical fish and unique undersea formations. Several deep and wide channels cut through the reef. These channels are up to 200' deep and yet narrow enough to create exotic canyon diving.
Time is one of Bayman Bay's most alluring qualities. Time to walk along terraced boardwalks; time to explore mountain trails; time to sit and enjoy the slowly setting sun. So we want to welcome you to Guanaja and hope you choose to stay with the Bayman Bay Club. Please explore the rest of our site and feel free to sumbit an online reservation!
